FAQ

Do I need a plugin for Lightroom or Bridge?

No. Metadata is written as standard XMP sidecars and embedded IPTC/XMP fields, which Lightroom Classic, Bridge, Capture One, Photo Mechanic, darktable and digiKam already read.

What exactly gets written?

Title, description, keyword list, star rating and colour label. Star ratings map to the five-tier scale you configure, and colour labels follow the same mapping.

Can metadata be written into RAW files?

RAW originals keep sidecars, which is the standard non-destructive approach. The export zip also includes an ExifTool script for macOS, Linux and Windows if you want fields burned into files directly.

What about JPEG, PNG and TIFF?

Those get the fields embedded straight into the file, in addition to the sidecar, so metadata survives even if the sidecar is separated.

Will every frame get a rating?

Yes. Any frame you did not explicitly rate falls back to a defined tier, so nothing arrives in Bridge unrated or unlabelled.
