FAQ
Which RAW formats are supported?
Canon (.cr2, .cr3), Nikon (.nef), Sony (.arw), Adobe (.dng), Fujifilm (.raf), Olympus (.orf) and Hasselblad (.3fr). RAW is available on Pro and Studio.
Do you upload the full RAW file?
No. The embedded preview is extracted in your browser; only a 1280px JPEG (~150–300 KB) is uploaded for the AI. The RAW stays on your device.
Can I import straight from an SD card?
Yes. Point the browser at the card or the shoot folder and the whole thing is scanned — subfolder scanning is optional, RAW+JPG pairs are matched by filename stem so a frame is never keyworded twice, and big cards run in managed chunks you can pause, reconnect and resume.
How does the metadata get into my files?
Each frame gets an XMP sidecar with title, description, keywords, star rating and colour label — read by Lightroom Classic and Bridge as-is, by Capture One once "Prefer Sidecar XMP" is enabled in Preferences, and by Photo Mechanic, darktable and digiKam — with colour labels also written to darktable's and digiKam's own fields. JPEG, PNG and TIFF also get the fields embedded directly, and the export zip ships ExifTool scripts (macOS/Linux and Windows) for burning metadata into RAW originals.
Why is RAW Pro/Studio only?
Free and Starter use a faster JPEG/PNG path to keep costs low and the free tier sustainable. Pro and Studio cover the extra processing for RAW pipelines.
Can I keyword a whole shoot folder?
Yes — point it at a folder, it scans locally without uploading originals, and you get keywords, titles and XMP sidecars per file. Batch keywording runs across the whole folder in one pass.
Is this only for stock photographers?
No. Searchable titles, descriptions and keywords matter to any photographer with an archive — weddings, sport, wildlife, property, product. Agency-specific presets only apply when you pick one.
